e.  The video was about how Jonathan Safran Foer, hereby known as Safran Foer, was fundamentally opposed to eating meat, aka animals. In the video, he said that the meat industry is having a negative effect on the environment. Safran Foer predicted that one half of Americans will be vegetarians in the next 10 years. He also said that while the meat industry will never be eliminated, it will be reduced and changed.
f. One part of the video that stood out to me was when Safran Foer said he predicted that half of America will be vegetarian in ten years. I found this moment in the video important because...well, the sentence caught me off guard. Half of America-that's kind of a lot of people. I also think this moment is important because it was hinting at "the decrease in power" of the meat industry. Another part that I thought was important was when Safran Foer said that a study showed that the cost of a single hamburger on the environment was about $100. So basically, because of a single burger, it'll cost $100 to clean up the environment. This moment was also educational because before he said that, I didn't know how bad the meat industry affected the environment. Actually, I think that Safran Foer really said that the cost of one hamburger thing applied to society, not the environment. But it's basically the same thing because our society is paying for environmental clean-up. The third important part of the video was Safran Foer's answer to the question, "If you had kids, would you let them eat meat?" His answer was that there will come a time where it's up to his kids (he has two) whether they want to eat meat or not. Safran Foer also said that he'll respect his kids' decisions about meat because they will be informed about what the meat goes through between the animal and the plate.
2. Before this presentation, I was already aware of some of the methods used to process meat. Even though it was kind of gross, I didn't care because I LOVE eating meat. For example, in biology we learned about pink slime. A lot of people were really against it at first, but they couldn't act on their opinions because they would keep eating stuff like hamburgers. As a person who likes to eat meat, I would apply this video to my life by doing doing some research on how meat is processed but I will most likely keep eating it anyway because I can't help myself - I just really like meat..
