Journal Topic from August 14:
What is heroism? Is it defined by personality traits such as courage, or just by doing the right thing in the right place at the right time? Describe someone you consider to be a hero.
First of all, I'll say that I don't think heroism is when someone does the right thing at the right time, because some people do the right thing by accident(accidental heroes). And I don't think that heroism should be defined by personality traits like "bravery" or "courage" because different heroes have different personalities. For me, heroism is being kind from the heart. That means actually being nice, not pretending just to look good. Someone who I consider a hero would be a firefighter because they are always risking their lives without over-thinking it. Sure. it's what they do for a living, but they could have easily chosen a different, high-paying, safer job. Thus, firefighters are awesome examples of a genuine hero.
